Alex was born and raised in Wilmington, NC. A lifelong Presbyterian, he pursued ordained ministry following several years of working in homeless shelters. Alex’s faith has been profoundly shaped by living for a time in monastic communities in India and Ireland. Alex attended UNC-Chapel Hill and received a BA in Religious Studies. He received his Masters in Divinity from Duke.
Alex is motivated by a belief in the transformative power of sharing stories and is particularly passionate about listening to the voices of young folks. He lives in Durham with his wife Caroline, daughter Rowan, two dogs, and three banjos. Alex is a proud member of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina.
