Children & Youth Protection

Home 9 At WPC 9 Children & Youth Protection

Volunteers are at the heart of all of Westminster’s ministries, especially those for children and youth. The goals of these ministries vary, but in all we do, our top priority is to maintain a safe and wholesome environment for children and youth.

Westminster takes this priority very seriously and therefore has a Child and Youth Protection Policy for Preventing Sexual Abuse in place for the protection of children, youth, and the adults who care for them.

If you wish to volunteer with children and/or youth, you must:

  • Complete the Child and Youth Protection Policy (CYPP) Training. New volunteers must complete the online training module (see below) or participate in one of the CYPP in-person training sessions offered by Westminster.
  • Complete the Application and Background Check Consent Form on page 7 of the Child and Youth Protection Policy, attesting that you have read and understood the policy. If you would like to work with youth, please also complete page 8 of the policy. Return the completed form to the Director of Christian Education or Pastor for Youth & Their Families.
  • Every three years, all volunteers will be asked to renew their volunteer status by watching the video below, completing the online test, and submitting the Application and Background Check Consent Renewal Form to the Director of Christian Education or Pastor for Youth & Their Families.
